Steady Allies

Every home needs an anchor.

A steady ally for your household.

Steady Allies is a household partnership. We match Keepers, the people who run a home, with vetted Anchors who fix, clean, and pitch in around the house and are a steady, positive presence. Each side brings something, the load is shared fairly, and every term is agreed in writing up front.

Keeper
The person who runs the home and opens it up to a partnership.
Anchor
The vetted adult who fixes, cleans, pitches in, and is a steady presence.

Not dating, and not hired help. A practical partnership between two adults, with clear written terms, a no-romance agreement, and kids' wellbeing first.

A real partnership

Fair, two-way, and written down.

Many of us never got to see what a fair partnership at home looks like. Steady Allies is built around one.

A Keeper and an Anchor are partners in running a home well. Not a romance, and not a boss and an employee. When kids are around, they get to see what fairness, respect, and teamwork at home look like, every day.

Each brings something

The Keeper brings a home, meals, and a place at the table. The Anchor brings skills, time, and steady help. Both matter equally.

The load is shared fairly

Fixing, cleaning, cooking, and pitching in are split in a way both people agree is fair. Either role can take on any task.

Terms are in writing

Hours, tasks, money, house rules, and how to leave are all agreed and signed before the arrangement begins.

Respect, both ways

Both partners keep the agreement, raise concerns openly, and can end it without blame. Respect is the rule, not a favor.

Three tiers

Start small. Step up only if you both agree.

Every partnership begins at the level that fits the home. Visiting tiers let a Keeper see how it feels before anyone moves in, and a safety concern ends any tier at once.

Porch LightA light left on. One to two visits a week, daytime or early evening: a Sunday dinner, a weekend project, a repair.
Open DoorFor a steady presence who is part of the routine and goes home at night. Three to four evenings a week, home by a time the Keeper sets.
Full HearthA live-in arrangement with the most structure: a private room, written rent and shared costs, after at least 90 days at Open Door.

How it works

Five careful steps. No surprises.

Every pair moves through the same five steps, in this order. Each one has to be done before the next unlocks.

  1. Verified profile

Identity, background checks, references, and a short video introduction.

  2. Public meetup

A first conversation in a public place, with a friend or family member nearby.

  3. Short home visit

The Keeper is present the whole time. Children are home only if the Keeper chooses.

  4. Trial period

The trial length for the chosen tier, with a clear exit for both sides.

  5. Review and decision

Both people look back on the trial and choose. Either one can say no. If both say yes, they sign a long-term agreement of 6 or 12 months, renewable only if both choose to.

Safety

Vetting is the whole point.

Homes with kids deserve extra care. These protections are part of every partnership, not optional extras.

Both sides verified

Anchors pass identity, criminal record, sex offender registry, and reference checks before any home visit. Keepers verify identity and address. Checks repeat every year.

Never alone with a child

No driving a child, no discipline, no private messages with a child, and no photos of the children shared online.

Honest home disclosure

Before agreeing, an Anchor sees who lives there, pets, smoking, alcohol, firearms and storage, cameras, and the co-parent's role. Children's names and the address stay private until it's safe.

One written agreement

Thirteen terms for every tier, plus the tier's own terms, signed by both people before anything begins.

No-fault exit, any tier

Either person can end the arrangement with the tier's notice. A safety concern ends it immediately.

Fair, private reviews

Blind structured reviews after each trial. Families see only verified signals, never public accusations.

FAQ

Questions you might have

Is this a dating app?

No. Steady Allies is for household partnerships only. Every agreement includes a not-a-dating-service term: if either person wants a romantic relationship, the arrangement ends first through a no-fault exit. Profiles focus on skills, schedules, and fit, not looks.

What do Anchors actually do?

Anchors fix, clean, and pitch in around the house, from repairs and yard work to tidying, dishes, laundry, and deep cleaning, plus simply being a steady presence at dinner. The Keeper and Anchor pick the tasks together from the Hands and Hearth menu, and anything not listed needs the Keeper's yes first. Roles go both ways, so any household can look for the kind of help it needs.

Is an Anchor hired help?

No. An Anchor is not an employee, babysitter, or caregiver, and a Keeper is not a boss. It's a partnership: each side brings something, the load is shared fairly, and the terms are agreed in writing.

What does it cost?

Browsing is free. Anchors pay once for screening at cost, planned at about $65. Keepers pay a planned $14.99 a month, starting only when a trial begins, plus an at-cost ID check of about $5. A $49 one-time match fee is paid once, when both people sign. For the first three months after launch there's no membership or match fee. Steady Allies never takes a cut of rent. See full pricing.

Can I choose the gender of the person I'm matched with?

Everyone states their own gender on their profile, and any Keeper can set a match preference as a personal safety choice. This setting is still under legal review before launch and may work differently by tier.

Who can be a Keeper or an Anchor?

Any adult, 18 or older, who passes verification and vetting. Rising Anchors are building toward independence and want a place to land. Lasting Anchors are looking for a long-term role in a family. Matches are based on what each side is looking for, not on who they are.

How are kids kept safe?

Anchors pass background and reference checks before any home visit. An Anchor is never alone with a child, never drives a child, never disciplines, and never messages a child privately. The Keeper stays responsible for supervision at every tier, and children's names, photos, and schedules stay private until a trial begins. Read the safety terms.

How do I leave an arrangement?

Either person can end it at any tier, no reason needed. Porch Light ends the same day. Open Door takes 3 days' notice during the trial and 7 days after. Full Hearth takes 7 days during the trial and 30 days after, with final lengths set with an attorney. A safety concern ends any arrangement immediately, and a live-in Anchor's belongings are protected on the way out.

Does an Anchor have to move in?

No. Porch Light and Open Door are visiting tiers. Full Hearth, the live-in tier, opens only after at least 90 days at Open Door with a clean record.
